SCHOLARSHIPS & AWARDS
Soroptimist of Humboldt Bay proudly supports women and girls in our community by offering the following scholarships and awards.
DISTINGUISHED YOUTH AWARD
Deadline for Application is February 1st
This award is given in recognition of outstanding contributions made by young people to home, school, workplace, community, country and world. Criteria for the award recipient is a graduating senior from any of the Eureka area high schools; has taken an active part in service in the home, school, workplace, and/or community; shows a high degree of cooperation, courtesy and consideration for others: has demonstrated the ability to lead with self control, dignity and responsibility; and has pursued goals with commitment and purpose. Deadline for application is February 1st—$ 2,000 award.
RUBY AWARD
Deadline for Application is December 1st
This award is for a woman who makes extraordinary differences in the lives of other women. This person has improved the lives of women and girls, has had a significant impact on the lives of women and girls, and would inspire and encourage women. $1,000 award to charity of reipients choice. Deadline for application is December 1st

VIOLET RICHARDSON AWARD
Deadline for Application is December 15th
This award is for a young woman between the ages of 14 and 18 who volunteers in her community or school. $2,000 award. The deadline is December 15th.
S Club Award
Deadline for Application is February 1st
The "S" Club Outstanding Senior Award is presented to an outstanding high school senior who is a
member of a local “S” Clubs sponsored by Soroptimist International of Humboldt Bay.
Two awards of $1000 each will be presented at a special event in March. The winner's application will then be sent for further review and be eligible for an additional award selection at the Founder Region level.
The application must be submitted to SIHB “S” Club Committee Chair PO Box 96 Eureka CA 95502 by February 1,
2026.
(Immediate family members of Soroptimists are not eligible.)

LIVE YOUR DREAM AWARD
Deadline for Application November 15th
This award gives a woman who is head of the household and faces financial difficulty in returning to school the opportunity to return to college or vocational school and create a better opportunity for her career. 2 awards given at $3,000 each.
“Live Your Dream” is a worldwide campaign to raise awareness of the issues women face and what can be done to help them. In 51 years, 41,000 women have received $21 million. 81% improved their education and 96% are now living in safe places. Many recipients become counselors, and social workers, and work in the legal field. The “Live Your Dream” campaign coincides with International Women’s Day. Through this campaign light will be shed on women’s issues and resources provided to build a better life so that dreams can be lived in full.

RE-ENTRY AWARD
Deadline for Application November 15th
This award gives a woman who is single and without children the opportunity to return to college to further her career goals. This award is for someone who is facing financial difficulties and has applied for the EOP program at their college of choice. 2 awards are given each year at $3,000 each.

STEAM Award
Deadline for Application is February 1st
This award is to a graduating senior from the Eureka area high school who excels in Science, Technology, Engineering, Architecture, or Mathematics and plans on furthering her education or career in a related field. The recipient demonstrates a passion for innovation, problem-solving, and academic achievement in STEM disciplines. The recipient will be selected based on their academic performance, involvement in extracurricular activities, and aspirations for a future in STEAM.
